Marathon Day

A good few weeks ago it was the Marathon and our friend Jethro was running it. He finished with a decent time and raised, and still raising, a shit load of cash for Mencap which is always good. We all headed up to cheer him on and try and catch him at as many points around the route as we could. Was a very successful day and we all had a bloody good time. Oh yeah, I got a photo of Richard Branson dressed as a butterfly too.

Just wanted to say a final congratulations to Jethro for completing the run, making us all feel extremely fucking lazy and raising money for the children at Mencap.

Ferrier Estate, Kidbrooke

Got a whole load of final night shots from the night shoot at the lovely and sunny Ferrier Estate. Here's one.

Scan

Never got to show my colour 35 finals from this shoot because as soon as I had printed and mounted them I handed them in.
They had a much better feel about them than the digital ones. I'll scan them in as soon as I get them back.

BACK.

Didn't really post for a few weeks after I handed in at uni, the photos have mounted up so I'm back on it.

I can't work out why Hugh was so happy to find me hiding in his boot.

Welcome to Deptford.

A few drinks at our friend's website launch night turned into a complete blood bath a few weeks back. It was the Playedio launch night at The Bunker Club in Deptford, not the safest of places but they knew the owners and the drinks were ridiculously cheap. Everyones on the dance floor doing dance floor stuff and a massive group of guys that had been kicked out of a club in New Cross came pouring in, why the fuck they were let in we don't know. But it didn't take long for them to kick off, and we're not talking about a few punches here and there. They were literally picking up glasses and throwing them aimlessly around the tiny venue. It was a mass brawl. About 6 people ended up in hospital and there were a lot of bumps and cuts all in the wrong places. It was fucking mayhem.

With no surprise Lewisham hospital were as much help as a pair of sunglasses on a bloke with one ear. Myles had a gash between his eyes the size of south east Asia and they did sweet fuck all about it. So we had to got to work on his face, I had some duct tape in the tool shed so we patched him right up...

Ferrier Estate, Kidbrooke...after hours. Shoot 1

Me and Myles went back to the Kidbrooke estate I wrote about a few posts ago tonight. I won't go into to much detail now as we plan to go back in the week when theres more of us and its not raining. To be honest I think the rain was the least of our worries. It's a whole different world at night. Here's one I managed to get tonight before it starting shitting it down...

Midnight

I hit 10,000. Thanks. Heres my first post.

Double Exposure

Accidentally double exposed a film. Some of the results were pretty interesting though.

These haven't been edited, just shot outside with a studio light. Wanted to thank Hugh for freezing his arse off to make these possible which ended up as finals at uni. Flickr link below.

Ferrier Estate, Kidbrooke.

I've been thinking about putting this post up for way too long, I really couldn't decide what photos to chose to put up. But I've come to the decision to just put a few up and link you to the Flickr set. I should do that more I suppose. Basically, a group of us headed to this estate in Kidbrooke, South London a few Sundays ago as Myles told us it was worth checking out...and trust me, it was.
So in the late 60's the council thought it'd be a great idea to build a giant concrete estate to house thousands of people. It was done quickly, cheaply and it was one of the first of its kind. It had its own school, pub, doctors surgery and church. The concrete that made the walls, benches, paths and even garden walls were all made on site. Over the years the estate deteriorated into an outcasted place to society. Crime, unemployment and general unpleasantness of the place slowly snowballed out of control until it got deemed widely as 'a bit on the rough side'. Basically your shoes would get nicked if you walked to slow.

So 40 years later they decide its time for this giant shit hole to go and it wasn't such a good idea after all. They have a £1,000,000,000 go ahead to flatten it and transform the place, into another 'state of the art' estate...

So for the last 10 years or so they have slowly been moving thousands of people off the Kidbrooke estate. It's currently in its final stages but some people still remain and jesus christ, shits got weird. It's like a giant futuristic ghost town. When you walk through the parks, buildings and pathways you feel your like that guy at the beginning of 28 days later, there should be people everywhere, but theres just not. So freaky. But never the less, fucking interesting and a gold mine for photographers. So like I said, a group of us headed down there to check shit out...

I couldn't decide which ones to put up on here so I just chose some of my favorites of recent and linked the Flickr below these.

James William Brooks

He will do anything for Drum and bacon. Doesn't know that any time before 11am exists. One of the most generous guys I know.  Just released an awesome website, he's still getting the cogs turning but you'll have to keep checking this space for the shit he's got planned...
